Valencia defender Gabriel Paulista is delighted to have been granted Spanish citizenship.
The Brazilian now has a Spanish passport and is set to be selected by La Roja coach Luis Enrique for the next international round of games.
Gabriel, 29, told El Larguero: "The first day I put on the national team shirt would be the game of my life.
"Hearing that makes me want to work harder to keep growing every day like I do every day, in every training session.
"I prepare myself by respecting other colleagues who are already in the national team."
Gabriel has also confirmed he's in new contract talks with Los Che.
"Everyone knows that I want to continue wearing the shirt. We are talking again.
"The talks for my renewal are well advanced. I hope that soon I can sign my new contract because I am very excited to stay many more years here."
