Valencia coach Otxotorena backing Real Sociedad move for Brighton keeper Ryan

Valencia goalkeeper coach José Manuel Otxotorena is backing Real Sociedad's move for Brighton keeper Mat Ryan.

Ryan is a target for La Real after being made available by Brighton this summer. The Australia international spent the second-half of last season on-loan with Arsenal before returning to Falmer stadium.

However, Ryan has been transfer-listed by the Seagulls with Robert Sanchez firmly established as the team's outright No1.

A return to Spain is now on for Ryan, with Real Sociedad keen to snap him up.

Otxotorena worked with Ryan during the Aussie's spell with VCF and told Mundo Deportivo: "For me La Real is right.

“He is a goalkeeper with very complete conditions; I would not dare to highlight a strength, but he has a very strong physique, is very powerful and plays very well with his feet."

Indeed, Otxotorena says Ryan's style of play will suit the system employed by La Real coach Imanol Alguacil.

He continued: "He will adapt very well to La Real's offensive system.

"He is an ambitious boy, he wants to play and he will give that point of competitiveness to the position."

Last season, La Real finished in fifth position in the LaLiga, so qualifying for the Europa League. In San Sebastian, Ryan would arrive to compete with Alex Remiro for the No1 role at La Real.
