Valencia coach Marcelino: Match officials targeting me

Valencia coach Marcelino believes he's being unfairly treated by match officials.

He was sent to the stands during the weekend's clash with Villarreal and on Tuesday, LaLiga Santander's Competition Committee confirmed that he has been handed a further two game ban on top.

That means he will now be unavailable on the sideline for upcoming games against Celta on Wednesday and Real Sociedad on Saturday.

"It hurts not to be [on the sidelined] and all the more so in this situation but that is how it is," he told the assembled media.

"Last year, I was the first coach sent off in the league and this year again, it is the same when I want to be there.

"It really hurts me but we must accept the two game ban and I don't think it will have a negative influence on the team in the games.

"Yes, I do think [he is being targeted] because there is data to show it and I can't say why it is the case but it is certainly something that is real.

"I have been a professional since the age of 15 and I have never belittled or insulted an official yet I don't even get a warning when there isn't even a very serious reason to send off a coach.

"If there is, then you can expel the coach but there have been much more serious things happen without a warning."
