Valencia coach Albert Celades hopes to see Ezequiel Garay's contract renewed.

Off contract in June, the defender's season is over due to a pending knee operation.

Celades said, "He will be operated on in the next few hours. It is true that we are open to making an addition (emergency signing) because we have this possibility."

On the renewal of his contract, Celades continued: "You have to follow the open course and that is what I know, he is a very important casualty, it is a hard blow for the team and especially for Ezequiel who will have to go through the operating room to go through a hard situation.

"He was very close to reaching an agreement and we want to see his operation in the next few hours and then return to the talks. If we resume talks it is to reach an agreement.
