Valencia coach Jose Bordalas was happy with their friendly defeat of Villarreal.
Valencia's 3-2 win against Villarreal was a first game in the dugout for new coach Bordalás, who has been working with the players over the past two weeks.
Bordalas said, "We were eager to compete and to play a game. This was a difficult fixture - and always is - because Villarreal are a great side. Nevertheless, it was still a preparatory game for both teams, and the result is the least important thing.
"What we have to do is work well, in order to start the league season in the best possible condition.
"I'm happy, because the players are working well. They are very motivated and adapting to what we want for the coming season. We still have players who are yet to come back, who are still on holiday, and we are keen to have them with us in the group and to keep working for the start of the season."
