Valencia coach Baraja: Victory at Almeria for our amazing away fans

Valencia coach Ruben Baraja was delighted with victory at Almeria on Sunday.

The result gives VCF a fighting chance of Primera survival.

Samuel Lino and an own goal created by captain Jose Luis Gaya earned Valencia their 2-0 win.

Baraja later said, "It was a very difficult game. We hadn't been able to win away from home or keep a clean sheet since I took over. This is the reward for the hard work the players have put in. We were looking for solidity at the back and to be successful with our chances. Winning is very difficult and even more at a ground like this.

"We have to be happy with the result, but we haven't done anything yet. Today we have gained hope and we have to carry this over to Thursday's game.

"It represents hope. When you work hard and persist and the results do not arrive, there is always a point in which your hope is lost. We always send out a very firm message that we can get out of this, and today is an example of this. Keeping going like this is the way to go: We have to intense and be aware that we have a tough road ahead."

On Valencia's away support, Baraja declared: "It was amazing. It was very emotional.

"Arriving at an opposition team's stadium and feeling the love of your fans can bring you to tears. Being able to experience this as a coach is a privilege. We can only thank the fans for their efforts. We need them from here until the end of the season. We want them to spur us on and help us, and we want to pay them back with effort and hard work."
