Former Real Madrid GM Jorge Valdano is confident they'll be too strong for Champions League opponents Manchester City.

The two teams have been drawn together for the round of 16.

Valdano told El Transistor: "The power is similar and the style of play is different. I understand that Real Madrid has more experience, more maturity. If (Eden) Hazard plays, one-on-one per player the better team is Real Madrid.

"Line by line Madrid is better than City; they would pay to have the defence of Real Madrid.

"For creativity the best is Hazard, for the order it would be Casemiro and for the personality it would be Sergio Ramos.

"It is essential for the City to recover (Sergio) Agüero; I never saw a player who scores so many goals in the small area."
