Mathieu Valbuena supports the France recall of Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

The Olympiacos playmaker believes that Didier Deschamps has nothing to lose from his decision to include Benzema in France's squad for the 2020 European Championship.

"If [Benzema] can bring something more to France, all the better for Les Blues," Valbuena told RMC.

"Whether the team works or not, Deschamps will be the winner. If he succeeds, it will be said that he has achieved it in a difficult context. If not, he will not be blamed.

"He knows how to make his lists and, since he has no guarantees in the attack, he has made his decision.

"If the coach has called me? No, and I don't expect anything from anyone. I live my life and enjoy on the pitch. I don't expect anything from Didier or anyone."

Benzema will stand trial in October for his alleged involvement in the Valbuena sex tape blackmail scandal of 2015.
