Fifa women's world player of the year Abby Wambach is on the shortlist for the 2013 award. The 33-year-old American is joined by Brazil's five-time winner Marta and Germany's European player of the year Nadine Angerer.
There are no British players on the 10-name shortlist.
Arsenal Ladies coach Shelley Kerr and Scotland's Swedish boss Anna Signeul have been nominated for the world coach of the year.
The men's and women's winners will be announced on 13 January at the Fifa Ballon d'Or event in Zurich.
