US hopeful Nagbe primed for massive campaign with Portland Timbers

Darlington Nagbe is looking to enjoy a fruitful 2015 MLS season with the Portland Timbers.

The 24-year old midfielder was unable to repeat his 2013 nine-goal campaign last term as the Timbers failed to make the play-offs in what was a disappointing result for the club in their fourth year.

Liberian-born Nagbe netted just one goal in 2014, providing seven assists, which brought about some negative press but he is planning to step up in 2015 as he looks to become eligible for the USA national team.

"I didn't listen to it too much," Nagbe said of the negativity that came with his drop in form last season.

"I don't read too much about anything. I just went out there and tried to keep doing what I'm doing, which is try to help the team create chances.

"I feel like the better the team does, the more recognition everyone gets.

"So [we] definitely want to do better as a team, and if I get a call-up (to the US team) that'd be great also."
