Kieran Gibbs missed a call to join the England squad because he had already jetted off on holidays.
It is believed that Roy Hodgson wanted to bring in the Arsenal left-back to cover for the injured Ryan Bertrand who pulled out of the Three Lions setup late last week, leaving Tottenham Hotspur's Danny Rose as the only fit left-sided full-back in the team.
However, Gibbs was unavailable as he had flown to the USA for a long weekend of the mindset that he was not required by his country.
The Daily Mirror reports that Gibbs, 26, would have loved to answer the call had he been in the UK or even Europe but clearly would have missed the match against Germany in Berlin on Saturday.
It is expected that Rose will again start in Tuesday night's Wembley meeting with Holland while Bertrand remains unavailable through injury and Gibbs travels back from America to begin preparing for Arsenal's Premier League clash with Watford on Saturday.
