Uruguay coach Diego Alonso says he is in charge of Ronald Araujo's selection.

The Barcelona defender has been ruled out of their clash with Ghana as he continues to recover from a pre-World Cup thigh injury.

Barca president Joan Laporta has stated Araujo should only play if fully fit - a claim that has angered Alonso.

He said, "Whether or not Araujo is going to play depends on me, I am the coach, not from what the president of Barcelona says.

"He is in frank evolution, and when he is fit he will play. We cannot advance if it will be the next game or the next one after."
