Union Berlin management accept they're unlikely to see Taiwo Awoniyi next season.
The Liverpool striker enjoyed an impressive loan with the Bundesliga outfit last term and Union are keen on bringing him back.
However, there is a resignation such a prospect is unlikely with the Nigerian now qualified for a UK work permit.
“Nothing is ruled out, but in principle it is anything but likely. We depend on the club that has him to go along with the whole thing.
"It is a difficult story, in which I cannot foresee what will and will not develop," said Union sports director Oliver Ruhnert.
However, the 49-year-old is hopeful that Awoniyi felt “very comfortable with us".
