RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano should be a Manchester United player, it has been revealed.
In 2015, United allegedly guaranteed the Frenchman would get his own flat, but then turned it into living with a host family, prompting his camp to pull the plug on the deal.
Upamecano reportedly considered United "the club that has made him dream since he was a kid", and the transfer from Valenciennes was considered all but completed.
His agent Thierry Martinez told So Foot: "An intermediary met with us, but between the project she presented us and what was actually going to happen…
"A flat was promised, but that changed to a host family with only six return trips for his parents.
"When you uproot a player at such a young age, that isn't enough. I wanted Dayot to have a stable emotional balance off the pitch."
Upamecano was then lured by RB Salzburg, who reportedly convinced the defender to join using a PowerPoint presentation.
In 2017, sister club RB Lepizig paid £9m for the defender - who has now become one of the most promising centre-backs in the Bundesliga.
