Uefa caps ticket prices for away fans in Champions & Europa League

Uefa has approved the capping of ticket prices for away fans in its Champions League and Europa League competitions with immediate effect, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.

It means tickets prices for away fans will now be capped at a maximum of €70 (US$77) in the Champions League and €45 (US$49) in the Europa League, which Uefa says represents the level of the lowest category ticket price for the two club competitions.

The new regulation also complements the existing rule which stipulates that the price of tickets for away fans must not exceed the price paid for tickets of a comparable category that are sold to supporters of the home team.

Aleksander Čeferin, Uefa president, said: "Fans are the lifeblood of the game and those who follow their teams to away matches must have access to tickets at a reasonable price, bearing in mind the cost they have already had to incur for their trip.

"By capping ticket prices, we want to make sure that away fans can still travel to games and play their part in making the atmosphere inside football stadiums so special."
