Manchester United have moved to secure Chris Smalling to a new deal.
Currently impressing on-loan at AS Roma, it's claimed United do not wish to sell the England international and instead have drawn up a new contract offer for his consideration.
Gazzetta dello Sport says United have tabled a new four year deal to 2023 worth €4.5m-a-year.
For their part, Roma are refusing to give up on keeping hold of Smalling for the long-term.
Having paid €3m for his 12 month loan, Roma are now offering another €15m to make the deal permanent.
