Kilmarnock yesterday produced an enormous Scottish League Cup upset by defeating Celtic 1-0 but celebrations were short-lived as Liam Kelly's father passed away.
The 22-year old midfielder's dad, Jack, had a heart attack in the stands and later died in hospital, putting into perspective all that had occurred at Hampden Park during the hard-fought 90 minutes.
Dieter van Tornhout's 84th-minute header proved the difference in the end as Killie produced one of the biggest upsets in cup history but the players would not be feeling that unparalleled feeling of glory as they rally around Kelly and his family after what was in the end a tragic day.
