TRIBAL TRENDS - TRANSFERS: Liverpool plan big spend; Chelsea agree Neymar fee as Ronaldo warns against Man Utd

With the amount of rumours swirling around at this time of year, even after the winter transfer window, it is sometimes difficult to decipher the truth.

These are matters of importance.

As the transfer talk now directed at the all-important summer market, there are enormous amounts of speculation swirling around Europe and the UK.

Not to worry however, because here at Tribalfootball, we have broken down the week's hottest transfer rumours, and inform you whether you should believe the paper talk or not.

Here are our top five trending transfer stories for the past week:

Neymar – Barcelona
Clubs Interested: Chelsea

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will smash the world record to sign Barcelona and Brazil star Neymar, according to Tuttosport.

The Italian publication claims that the two clubs have already reached a verbal agreement over the fee, which is believed to be a staggering €180million.

There is a multitude of reasons why this deal won't go through. The most prominent is what he means to Barcelona and their future.

The former Santos star is viewed by Barcelona as the natural successor to Lionel Messi, much like Messi was when he was coming up through the ranks behind Ronaldinho.

The Catalan club went through a lot of pain to capture Neymar's coveted signature. They paid €86m for the then-21-year-old, and incurred charges of tax fraud over the shady deal.

Unless Neymar forces his way out, it is hard to see Barcelona departing with a talent that has the potential to become the best player in the world, no matter the amount of money offered.

Likelihood: Can't see this eventuating

Jurgen KloppLiverpool

Players Interested in: Virgil van Dijk (Southampton), Naby Keita (RB Leipzig), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Borussia Dortmund), Julian Brandt (Bayer Leverkusen), Demarai Grey (Leicester City), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Michael Keane (Burnley)

With Liverpool out of the title race, Jurgen Klopp has been promised riches, riches and more riches for next season.

The Times reports that the Reds hierarchy will provide Klopp with the 'biggest summer transfer budget in their history.'

He is going to need it as well if he wants all the players listed above. Of his reported targets, it seems most likely only a few will be targeted to help fill the necessary holes in his squad.

Given his world-class talent and ability to play as an out and out striker, Dortmund's Aubameyang seems the most interesting prospect for Liverpool.

Throw in his relationship with Klopp, his former manager, and the Reds reported war chest, and Liverpool might finally land a big fish.

Likelihood: Let's wait and see...

Cristiano RonaldoReal Madrid

Commenting on: Neymar (Barcelona)

Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a warning to Neymar – don't join Manchester United!

Diaro Gol reports that the Portuguese superstar – who spent six seasons at Old Trafford from 2003-2009 – feels that Barcelona is better suited for the Brazilian.

It'd be nice to believe that Ronaldo is looking out for the younger generation, helping guide them to the level of greatness that he has achieved.

But let's be serious.

It would seem more likely for Ronaldo to pack Neymar's bags, book his first class fight and provide him with a list of mansions around the Greater Manchester area.

Likelihood:Hard to believe

Willian – Chelsea

Clubs Interested: Manchester United

Willian may be on his way out of Chelsea.

According to The Telegraph, Blues boss Antonio Conte is revising his plans for the Brazilian, having only used him sporadically throughout the season.

It should come as no surprise that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has shown interest.

Willian played a pivotal role in Chelsea's title winning season in 2014-15 under Mourinho, starting 36 out of 38 matches. If Willian were to depart Stamford Bridge, it wouldn't come as a surprise if he wanted to rekindle his relationship with the Special One.

Likelihood: Selling to a rival might be the roadblock

James RodriguezReal Madrid
Clubs Interested: Liverpool, PSG, Manchester United, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Juventus

Liverpool is in advanced talks with Real Madrid over the transfer of James Rodriguez.

With Real Madrid keen to offload the midfielder, Don Balon reports that Madrid president Florentino Perez is willing to drop his asking price of €80m down to €50m to help with negotiations.

A slew of clubs including PSG, Manchester United, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Juventus have also showed interest in the Colombian.

However, their insistence of not over stepping the €40m price mark has put Liverpool in pole position to secure Rodriguez's signature.

Rodriguez is certainly not in the long-term plans of Real manager Zinedine Zidane. The Frenchman has used Rodriguez sparingly this season, and it would be better for both parties if they went there separate ways.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reported to be in line for a massive transfer budget this season, and the acquisition of Rodriguez would be money well spent.
