TRIBAL TRENDS - TRANSFERS: Arsenal's record Mbappe bid?; Juve, Man Utd in for Kroos?; Van Dijk to Liverpool back on?

With the amount of rumours swirling around at this time of year, it is sometimes difficult to decipher the truth.

These are matters of importance.

As the transfer talk is now directed at the all-important summer market, there are enormous amounts of speculation swirling around Europe and the UK.

Not to worry however, because here at Tribalfootball, we have broken down the week's hottest transfer rumours, and inform you whether you should believe the paper talk or not.

Here are our top five trending transfer stories for the past week:

Kylian Mbappe - Monaco

Clubs Interested: Arsenal, Real Madrid

It just wouldn't feel right if there wasn't speculation surrounding Monaco wonder kid Kylian Mbappe.

It looks likely that Mbappe will stay at the principality club, but according to Marca, Arsenal are preparing a world-record bid for the 18-year old.

£123.3m.

If it's true - and it's a big if - Arsenal will smash their club-record, which they only broke recently when they signed Alexandre Lacazette.

I'm sure Arsenal fans, players, Wenger, Gazidis and the tea lady would all dream of having the 'new Thierry Henry' arrive at the Emirates.

But can you see Arsenal forking out £123.3m?

Likelihood: Zero

Toni Kroos - Real Madrid

Clubs Interested: Inter Milan, Juventus, Manchester United

An interesting story has emerged out of Spain this week.

According to Diario Gol, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has said that he will listen to offers for Toni Kroos.

The German had previously been listed as one of Perez's 'untouchables' but the reports suggests that his stance has softened.

Juventus have had a bid of €70m immediately thrown out by Perez, while Inter Milan and Manchester United have also been in contact with Real.

Kroos had a stellar season for Los Blancos, making 29 La Liga appearances and starting in Los Blancos' Champions League triumph.

Zinedine Zidane is adamant that Kroos will not be sold and you can understand why.

At 27, Kroos has a few years on his midfield partner, Luka Modric, who is getting on at 32 years of age.

With all these ridiculous fee's being paid, Kroos' suitors would have to fork out over €100m for his signature.

Likelihood: Unlikely

Virgil van Dijk - Southampton

Clubs Interested: Liverpool

Don't be disheartened Liverpool fans, Virgil van Dijk could still join Liverpool.

That is according to French-based lawyer Daniel Vanderkamp, who worked alongside Liverpool during the deal to bring Christian Benteke to Anfield in 2015.

Vanderkamp tweeted: "Got told things are moving along now with LFC and Southampton.

"I don't know if he's handed in a request, just that the clubs are back negotiating.

"I don't think he will have to hand in a request either".

It's not hard to believe is it? Liverpool desperately need to sign defensive reinforcements, especially at centre-back, unless your happy with Dejan Lovren starting in the Champions League.

If the clubs are involved in negotiations, it may still be a while until a deal is completed.

But it's not dead, Liverpool fans.

Likelihood: Maybe

Mateo Kovacic - Real Madrid

Clubs Interested: Manchester United

Manchester United are ready to launch an offer for Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic, according to Okdiario.

The Croatian has struggled to nail down a regular place in Los Blancos starting XI, with Toni Kroos and compatriot Luka Modric being the preferred duo in the centre of the park.

News of Kovacic's restlessness spread quickly and United have been the first to react. With moves for other holding midfielders such as Nemanja Matic and Eric Dier stalling, the deal makes sense for Jose Mourinho.

Ultimately, the 23-year old has the power to push for a move.

Likelihood: Could happen

Arsenal

Players To Sell: Kieran Gibbs, Carl Jenkinson, Calum Chambers, Mathieu Debuchy, Wojciech Szczesny, Lucas Perez, Jack Wilshere, Olivier Giroud

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are preparing a massive clean out of their squad.

As you can see above, eight players including notable names such as Olivier Giroud and Jack Wilshere are being allowed to leave.

Wojciech Szczesny has already completed a move to Juventus, with Calum Chambers and Keiran Gibbs being linked with Crystal Palace and Newcastle, respectively.

Debuchy, Jenkinson and Perez are hardly surprising names to read.

Giroud can expect to remain at the Emirates, despite interest from Everton.

However, Jack Wilshere may be on his way out, with West Ham United showing serious interest.

Likelihood: Some will, some won't
