TRIBAL TEAM OF THE WEEK: Alexis on fire, Sturridge stellar as Premier League weekend explodes

41 goals were scored in the Premier League this weekend so it is no surprise to see an abundance of attacking players in our latest team of the week.

Alexis Sanchez fired home a hat-trick as Arsenal kicked into gear while there were braces from four other players in what was an entertaining weekend of top flight English football.

Defenders and goalkeepers must have had their heads in the sky with only two clean sheets from the 10 fixtures which made it hard to put together a competent backline.

Nevertheless, here's the XI, going with a 3-4-3 formation:

TRIBAL TEAM OF THE WEEK - 7

Goalkeeper

Hugo Lloris (Tottenham)

The France international enjoyed a stellar Saturday as Spurs hammered Manchester City. Lloris made seven saves to deny the pre-round league leaders after conceding halfway through the first half. Certainly gave his side the platform to mount attack after attack.

Defenders

Nathaniel Clyne (Liverpool)

Provided plenty of attacking for the Reds as he looked to constantly play balls to Sturridge. Did his job defensively as well, keeping Grealish relatively quiet. Has taken well to more of a wingback role at Anfield.

Virgil van Dijk (Southampton)

Scored his first Premier League goal with a customary defender's header and almost contributed to a clean sheet if it wasn't for a late penalty against Jose Fonte. Has adapted well to the English game since arriving from Celtic.

Toby Alderweireld (Tottenham)

A goalscoring display from the Belgian who had his hands full early but overcome a slow start to help guide Spurs to a famous win over City.

Midfielders

Erik Lamela (Tottenham)

The much-maligned Argentine showed what he is truly capable of with a direct assist, a hand in another goal and the finishing touches in the form of a late goal in the 4-1 triumph. Was solid defensively.

Eric Dier (Tottenham)

A rocket of an equaliser for Spurs (although the build-up should have been offside) and an admirable display against Yaya Toure. Looks good as a defensive mid.

Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)

The Chilean dynamo was everywhere at King Power Stadium. Opened up his season account in fine fashion with a blistering hat-trick, highlighted by his stunning third goal when he flicked the ball around N'Golo Kante from a throw-in, before swerving home a thunderous volley from range. Expect Alexis to kick on now he has detected his scoring radar!

Juan Mata (Manchester United)

The diminutive Spaniard pulled the strings as United went top of the table. Passing accuracy was on point and contributed with an assist and a goal. Is having a stunning season so far.

Forwards

Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool)

It appears as though Sturridge has hardly missed a beat after returning from hip surgery. Had a long lay-off before making his first appearance of the season recently but has promptly hit form for the Reds, netting a classy double in their 3-2 win over Aston Villa. The give-and-go with Milner and volleyed finish for the first was a thing of beauty and his combination play with Coutinho for the second was sublime.

Romelu Lukaku (Everton)

The powerful Belgian masterminded Everton's terrific comeback on Monday night. Scored their first goal when 2-0 down at West Brom with a strong header, played the through ball for Arouna Kone's equaliser, and then landed the match-winner from close range.

Rudy Gestede (Aston Villa)

The shining light in an otherwise down day for Villa. Gestede gave his side hope when finishing Hutton's cross from only yards out before a thumping header from Amavi's long cross capped a fine individual performance.

Manager

Mauricio Pochettino (Tottenham)

The performance of the weekend from Spurs who wiped City off the park at White Hart Lane. Remember, Manuel Pellegrini's men had not conceded on their opening five matches before Pochettino's outfit took them to town.
