Republic of Ireland coach Giovanni Trapattoni is pleased with what he's seen from Reading defender Alex Pearce.

Pearce will start on the bench for tonight's friendly against Oman.

"He's physically good, technically good and heads the ball well," he said. "And now he just needs to learn our system."
