Tranmere youth boss takes up post with Kilmarnock

Tranmere head of youth and centre of excellence manager Kenny Shiels is to leave Prenton Park to become assistant manager at Kilmarnock. Shiels joined Tranmere in May 2007 having previously been Northern Ireland Under-17 coach.

Rovers boss Les Parry said: "I'm really sorry to see Kenny leave the club but this is too good an opportunity for him to turn down.

"He has been a valued member of the team in his three years here and he will be missed by everyone at the club.

"I wish him the best of luck in his new role. I will be sitting down with the board of directors to discuss the staffing structure in the near future."

Shiels said: "I'm sad to be leaving Tranmere but this is a really exciting opportunity for me."
