Newcastle United winger Andros Townsend has claimed that it would be massive for the club if they can keep manager Rafa Benitez.

Recent reports have suggested that the Spaniard will be leading the Magpies' charge to promotion in the Championship next season and Townsend feels it would be a great move if they were to keep him.

"It would be massive for Newcastle to keep Rafa," he said.

"He is one of the best managers in the world. If we can keep a manager of that calibre and keep doing the right things then we will build.

"We will not cut corners and we'll build for the future and come straight back up in the Premier League, and not just stay in the top flight but be up there challenging because that is what the manager wants to do."
