Crystal Palace star Andros Townsend reveals that several key players are not discussing new contracts with the club at the moment.

Townsend is 29 and is out of contract in the summer, along with several other first team players.

The likes of Christian Benteke, Patrick van Aanholt, Gary Cahill, James McArthur, James McCarthy, Joel Ward and Mamadou Sakho can all leave on free transfers in the summer if the club does not offer them new terms.

Townsend admits the uncertainty over his future has not helped him focus on his football this season.

"We've been told as players that they are going to make decisions towards the end of the season," Townsend told talkSPORT.

"We're contracted until July 1 so until then we have to give everything for the cause.

"It's difficult of course but unfortunately we're living in a COVID era where clubs have lost a lot of money through lack of fans over the last 12 months – unfortunately that's the world we live in."

He added: "If I go back to February I was out of the team and wasn't playing well. The contract was running down and I was thinking I have six months left here.

"I really struggled because when I was coming on I was always thinking, right, I need to play really well here and earn a new contract. It's only since then that I've realised what will be will be, do what you're doing and things will work themselves out.

"At the moment Palace are speaking to nobody so we're all in the same boat. You don't speak about other clubs, you just let your agent deal with it. I've let my agent deal with it.

"As soon as the season ends then we'll sit down, have a chat and go through the options but at the moment just let me do my thing."
