Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has revealed that he is benefiting from playing alongside established stars such as Kolo Toure, Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren.
Although Liverpool have been enduring a substandard start to their season, the one shining light for the Reds has been the performances of 18-year-old Gomez.
The summer signing from Charlton Athletic has produced a couple of mature performances which belies his young age and now the defender has stated that playing alongside the likes of Toure, Skrtel and Lovren has helped him improve.
Gomez told the Liverpool Echo: "It's been a big learning curve. The quality of the players and the training is such a high standard at this level.
"But everyone at the club has really helped me to settle. I didn't really know any of the lads here when I first signed. The only person I really knew was (assistant boss) Sean O'Driscoll from working with him at England Under-19s.
"All the players - the likes of Kolo Toure, Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren - have been great for me. It's a good environment to be in."
