Fernandinho is backing teammate Yaya Toure to help Manchester City claim trophies this season.

Toure endured an average season last term by his extremely high standards and it was claimed that the midfielder could be moving away from the Etihad Stadium this summer.

However, Toure has stayed put at City and now fellow midfielder Fernandinho is backing the Ivory Coast superstar to lead City to glory once again.

Fernandinho said: "I'm very happy. He is a player who has helped the club to win titles in the past so I'm very pleased he is staying and I hope during the season he can help us like he always does with his performances and by scoring goals.

"He is very, very motivated but not necessarily more than before because he is always very motivated."
