Tottenham midfielder Danny Rose was pleased with his winner for England U21 against Portugal.

Rose admits his first goal at U21 level had been a long time coming.

He told TalkSport: "It's about time really. I hadn't scored for England in a long time so it was my first goal of the season and there's no better place than to score (than) at Wembley.

"I think the NFL played here a couple of weeks ago and the pitch hasn't really healed up since then. We trained here yesterday and we had a ten minute game on it and after about two minutes the pitch was cutting up really easily and once you are out there and it's raining it takes a lot out of everyone's legs and people are cramping up and it was very hard out there but we've got a great, great, great squad and we did well to get the three points today."
