Dele Alli and Wayne Rooney are seemingly going head-to-head for a starting spot in the England team.
Tottenham Hotspur youngster Alli has impressed in his midfield role behind Harry Kane at club level while Manchester United's Rooney has enjoyed a fruitful beginning in a similar position supporting Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Regarding who will fill the role for England's opening 2018 World Cup qualifier against Slovakia on the weekend, manager Sam Allardyce admits the jury is still out even after confirming that Rooney will continue on as Three Lions captain.
"Wayne is playing behind the front man at Manchester United...Dele Alli has started well too, so that makes it a difficult choice," said Allardyce.
"We'll wait and see, but we are looking at balance of positions. We want to have two players in each position and not leave ourselves short.
"Hopefully we make that selection after this (training camp) and we know the best XI to start with."
