Tottenham willing to make Modric first ever £100,000-a-week player

Tottenham are willing to make Luka Modric their first ever £100,000-a-week player to keep him away from Chelsea.

The London Evening Standard says Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is ready to upgrade Modric's deal to convince him to stay at White Hart Lane.

The 25-year-old, who has five years left on his contract, is on £55,000 a week, while the highest paid player at the club is believed to be Rafael van der Vaart on £75,000.

Tottenham are prepared to go beyond that and have not ruled out making Modric their first man to hit the £100,000 mark.
