Tottenham turn down open-top bus parade

Tottenham have declined the chance for an open-top bus parade after Sunday's Carling Cup victory.

Haringey Council made the offer to the club, who will instead present the trophy to fans at White Hart Lane before the UEFA Cup last-16 first leg PSV Eindhoven on March 6.

However, Spurs have accepted the council's invitation to a Civic Reception, which will be attended by manager Juande Ramos and captain Ledley King.

A statement from Tottenham read: "The club is grateful for the offer of a parade from Haringey Council.

"However, given the League Cup final falls mid-season, it is difficult to hold such a celebratory parade.

"The club is delighted to accept the council's invitation to a Civic Reception. Juande and Ledley will bring the cup to this event (date to be announced) and the council and club will set about ensuring that the local community within the borough gets to share in the excitement of the cup win.

"The Carling Cup will also be on display in the Spurs Megastore on Tottenham High Road this weekend."
