Tottenham to take care with Edwards, child actor Will Miller

Mauricio Pochettino has re-iterated his stance on Tottenham Hotspur's younger players.

The likes of Marcus Edwards, Will Miller, Josh Onomah, Shayon Harrison and Cameron Carter-Vickers all featured in the North London club's International Champions Cup meeting with Juventus in Melbourne on Tuesday.

While Pochettino was full of praise for his younger brigade, he was quick to protect the inexperienced players who will eventually get their chance just as reigning PFA Young Player of the Year Dele Alli did after arriving from League One club MK Dons.

"The most important thing is that when they get the opportunity to show their quality, they need to take it," he said

"It's very good to play this type of game against a team consistently in the Champions League.

"They are one of the biggest teams in the world so they (Spurs youngsters) can show their quality and their personality.

"We can take a lot of things from these games.

"For example, last season we saw Dele Alli who came from Milton Keynes, and after a few months he took a place in the starting eleven and you know all that happened after.

"He became an international and played at the Euros for the (England) national team.

"With the younger players, you never know, they have different times to mature and improve, but when they show that they have talent we need to give the opportunity and then be careful and care for them.

"In the case of Marcus Edwards, he is only 17-years-old. It's true that he is a very talented player but we always need to care.

"We have plenty of young talent. It was a great opportunity for this tour to give them the chances to be involved and play."

Pochettino was also thrilled to discover that Miller, who was deployed at left-back against Juve, spent his formative years as a child actor but is now backing him to become a quality footballer for Tottenham.

"I am very happy with Will, as I am wth Marcus, and it's a very interesting story," he added.

"I knew a few days ago that he was a kid that was involved in different movies. It was a thrill for me.

"We are pleased and it was a very good surprise.

"I think that he can be a very good footballer. He's a very good boy, fantastic character and personality and i think it is a great story."
