Tottenham target Marseille fullback Sakai

Tottenham are targeting Marseille full back Hiroki Sakai as a replacement for Kieran Trippier.

Spurs are hoping to find a new club for Trippier, with the England defender suffering from poor form throughout the past season.

The likes of Manchester United and Napoli are interested in acquiring Trippier.

Per Sky Sports News, Sakai from Marseille is a key target for Spurs should Trippier move on.

However, manager Mauricio Pochettino has some concerns about the transfer, as Sakai is 29.

Spurs want to sign players 23 and younger this summer, as part of their recruitment strategy.

They could make an exception for Sakai, who would likely slot into the first team if Trippier is sold.
