Tottenham Hotspur are surprised at the recent comments made by Danny Rose about his future at the club.
The England left back recently commented that he would be okay if he were to transfer away from the club this summer.
"It's not about regular first-team football. I know my age and I know how the club's run," said Rose to reporters while on international duty at the Nations League Finals.
"I'll be just sitting tight over the next few weeks and just seeing what happens. Either way, I'm prepared for whatever happens."
However, the Evening Standard reports that Spurs are confused at his comments, as they have no hard rule regarding player ages.
Rose regained his place as their first choice left back by the end of the season.
There are rumours suggesting Spurs want to send him to Everton in part-exchange for Lucas Digne.
