Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen: I didn't join for the money

Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen denies he quit AZ Alkmaar for money.

Janssen moved to Spurs from AZ Alkmaar in the summer, commanding a sizeable £20million fee after finishing last season as the Eredivisie's top scorer.

"Actually not, because there were clubs even willing to pay more money than Spurs but I immediately told AZ: I just want Spurs and not a club that might be offering even more," Janssen told Helden.

"I did not choose [Tottenham] for the money. Believe me, I could've gone elsewhere to earn more, even in England.

"The chairman of Tottenham, Daniel Levy, also said that they wanted me very much and that I should be proud to be allowed to wear a Spurs shirt."
