Tottenham striker Pavlyuchenko: I picked up good driving habits living in London

Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko insists he has a good command of English.

The 28-year-old, criticised for his poor command of English, insists he has understands the language well, but is too scared to speak in his adopted tongue because he is not fluent.

And he added: "I'm fully accustomed and adapted to London, but it's impossible to separate domestic and football issues. When you're not playing, no city is a joy."

But even if he gets his wish and returns home, Pavlyuchenko will take with him a new habit.

"When I'm driving, it's natural for me now to give way to pedestrians," he explained.

"When I go to Moscow, my friends are surprised to see my new driving style, but other drivers constantly honk when I stop. In England's it's the way of life to be generally civil."
