Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe has slammed German legend Franz Beckenbauer over his England taunts.
In Beckenbauer's latest outburst, he branded England "stupid" for finishing second in Group C - leaving them to face the Germans in the last 16 on Sunday.
But Defoe, who scored Wednesday's winner against Slovenia, said: "You're never going to get into a position where everyone says nice things about you all the time.
"We can't get side-tracked, we have to concentrate on ourselves."
German legend Beckenbauer also claimed England's players looked "burnt out" after a long domestic campaign.
But Defoe added: "I don't feel tired. The Premier League is one of the toughest leagues to play in but, if you look after your body and prepare right, you shouldn't have a problem."
