Tottenham signing Sarr likened to Pjanic

New Tottenham signing Pape Matar Sarr has been likened to Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic.

Spurs have wrapped up the signing of Sarr, who has been loaned back to Metz for the season.

Metz general manager Olivier Perrin has likened Sarr to Pjanic, stating: "I immediately said to myself that he was a top player, with a very high-level (with regards to) reading and analysing the game. He is Miralem Pjanic.

"He can play in a system with two numbers 10, he can be middle and box-to-box, he can be 10, 6, it depends on the coaches."

Metz manager Frederic Antonetti made the decision to promote Sarr from the second team to the senior set-up at the start of the 2021/22 campaign and hailed his "elegant" style.

"Pape Matar Sarr is elegance in the midfield, his talent, he is making others play," he said.

Sarr started for Metz in the weekend's 2-2 draw at Clermont Foot.
