Emerson Royal admits his summer was "turbulent" after being sold by Barcelona to Tottenham.

The move to Spurs only happened after the fullback had left Real Betis to return to Barca.

He recalled to Sky Sports: "Yes, I would describe my summer as turbulent ... I should have stayed at Barcelona, essentially I joined two clubs in one. A very atypical situation for a footballer.

"I experienced something different which I had to get used to quickly, making a very difficult decision within a very short time. Since I arrived here at Spurs, however, I have felt that I have made the right choice. I'm still struggling with the language barrier, but it will get easier as time goes on."
