Tottenham have signed Rafael van der Vaart without the guarantee of a medical.
The Daily Star says the Premier League yesterday cleared the deal after seeing evidence it had been agreed in time between Tottenham and Real Madrid.
A League spokesman said: "We are satisfied the deal was done but there were problems sending the paperwork."
Van der Vaart has signed a four year contract worth £44,000 a week, but he represents a big risk to Spurs as he has not had time to pass a medical.
A club source said: "It's not subject to medical. The deal is complete."
