Tottenham see Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez as a replacement for captain Hugo Lloris.
Argentine journalist Gaston Edul is reporting Spurs are planning an offer for the World Cup winner.
He tweeted: “Tottenham have specific interest in Martinez and may make an offer in the coming weeks."
The 30-year-old spent a decade at Spurs' bitter North London rivals Arsenal and helped them to FA Cup success after finally getting his chance in the first-team.
However, he switched to Villa in 2020 in a £20m deal and has gone from strength-to-strength.
The star won Fifa's World goalkeeper of the year after lifting the World Cup with Argentina in December.
And that followed the Copa America success from 2021 with the South American nation.
