Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood has slammed the conditions of the Dnipro Arena pitch following his side's 1-0 loss to Dnipro in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Spurs were beaten 1-0 by the Ukrainian side after Yevhen Konoplyanka converted from the penalty spot in the 81st minute but it could have been a different story in the Round of 32 first leg if Roberto Soldado had have scored in the 56th minute.
The Spaniard fluffed a close range opportunity which would have put the visitors ahead and Sherwood suggests it may have been due to the condition of the playing surface.
"He would expect to score," Sherwood said of Soldado's chance. "I haven't seen it again but I'm not sure he will be too complimentary about the pitch.
"I am not using it as an excuse, not for the chance, as both teams played on it but I am sure that it must have played some part in Robbie missing that one.
"The pitch was a disgrace, it is no excuse as both teams had to play on it but it is possibly the worst pitch I have experienced in a long time."
