Tottenham remain in the hunt for Boca Juniors midfielder Wilmar Barrios.
The Daily Star says Spurs remain keen on making Colombia midfielder Barrios their first signing in a year – but only if they avoid a bidding war.
Barrios intends to leave Argentine club Boca Juniors in January and is also wanted by Real Madrid.
But Spurs, having come close to securing a deal in the summer, are still very much in contention.
Holding midfielder Barrios, 25, who starred for Colombia at the World Cup in Russia, has a £16million release clause in his contract with Boca.
However, with troubled Spanish giants Real Madrid already lining up an offer of £20m, Spurs fear the price could escalate when the window opens in the new year.
