Tottenham out for Newcastle revenge - Stambouli

Tottenham midfielder Benji Stambouli is planning to exact revenge on Newcastle United on Wednesday night.

Spurs host the Magpies in the quarter-final of the Capital One Cup at White Hart Lane and Frenchman Stambouli is hoping he can be part of a winning team after Mauricio Pochettino's side went down to the north east outfit in the Premier League around two months ago.

"We recently lost to Newcastle in the league so this is a chance for revenge," the 24-year old told the club's official website.

"We want to recover some pride after the last game against them, but we have a good chance to do well in this competition as well. I have a feeling that we can do something special in this cup."

Stambouli, who joined from Montpellier in the summer, is confident that Tottenham are a good enough side to progress to at least the semi-finals of the league cup and insists the team will be doing everything in their power to get the better of the visiting Toon.

"We have quality, we have the talent to get the job done and I believe we are capable of beating Newcastle. They will be motivated but we have to be more so," he added.

"I think this will be a great match for us and for the fans. We'll be focused and we'll give ourselves the best chance we can of getting through to the next stage."
