Tottenham offered chance to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Lemar

Tottenham are being offered the opportunity to sign Thomas Lemar from Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window.

The Independent says Spurs could complete a loan with an option to buy deal for Lemar this month.

The French left winger has failed to justify the big money move he made to Atletico under Diego Simeone.

The club want to cut their losses on the 24-year-old, and would like Spurs to pay an eventual €60 million for Lemar.

The Frenchman has three goals in 64 games for Atletico since arriving from Monaco for £52.7 million.

"If Lemar can stay or not... we know that agents work in an exemplary way," Simeone said in a recent press conference.

"Clubs work in terms of the needs of the clubs. But, as a footballer, every time he has been available, he's played a lot more than he hasn't played.

"His characteristics have always excited me. But he hasn't been able to live up to expectations.

"Let's hope he has a good moment when he comes back from injury."
