Tottenham midfielder Hojbjerg: I'll never forget what Mourinho told me for rest of my life

Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is proud of his relationship with former manager Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho signed Hojbjerg from Southampton last summer before he was sacked last month.

Hojbjerg was one of the most consistent performers for Spurs during Mourinho's time in charge and is proud of his relationship with the Portuguese.

Now with the Denmark squad, the midfielder, quoted by Bold, stated: "We said goodbye to him individually and it was really positive.

"We had a really good relationship and the things he said made me proud. I will take that with me for the rest of my life."

In his first season with Spurs, Hojbjerg helped the club to the Carabao Cup final, where they were beaten by Manchester City. Overall, the 25 year-old managed 53 appearances, scoring twice and producing five assists.

"I wish him the best in the future, but just not in the matches where he will play against me!" added the Dane.

Mourinho was named new Roma coach for next season barely days after his dismissal by Tottenham. He succeeds fellow Portuguese Paulo Fonseca as head coach. The Giallorossi finished in seventh place this term.

It marks a return to Italy for Mourinho, who left Inter Milan in 2010 after delivering the Nerazzurri a historic Treble.
