Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino admits that it will be tough to top last season.

The London club were not able to win a trophy, but they did reach the Champions League final.

They also went far in the League Cup, reaching the semi finals before a two-legged defeat to Chelsea.

As they prepare for their first full season in the new stadium, Spurs fans are anticipating even greater things from the team.

"It's only the beginning of the season. We are all, the teams, working to try to improve and be better than the previous season," said Pochettino to reporters.

"Of course for us to be better than the previous season is going to be difficult because to arrive in the final of the Champions League is the best thing you can get in football no? Better is to win and we didn't win.

"This season we are going to try again and hopefully we can arrive again, but I don't know. I cannot talk too much about other teams. I need to be focused on Tottenham and focused on improving the squad.

"We have plenty of senior players and young players who all need help to be better every season. We are focused on that."
