Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has spoken about selecting goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini instead of captain Hugo Lloris against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi final second leg.
The club's no.2 shot stopper was in goal for the game, with Spurs trailing 2-0 on aggregate from the first leg.
Gollini was at fault for the only goal of the second leg, with Antonio Rudiger rising from a corner to put the ball past a flapping keeper and into the net.
Asked about his decision, Conte said: "Before my arrival at Tottenham, Pierluigi has always played in Carabao and the Conference League.
"I think when you're in a team like Tottenham, it's important also to give chances to the keeper because the keeper, Pierluigi, showed to be reliable.
"Then we have to play three games in seven days against Arsenal, Leicester and Chelsea again. I think that he deserved to have this chance and to play an important game."
