Tottenham are making a move for Swansea City defender Joe Rodon.
The London Evening Standard says Spurs turned their attentions to the 22-year-old after abandoning moves for Milan Skriniar of Inter Milan and Chelsea's Antonio Rudiger before the close of the international window on Monday evening, but they consider Swansea's £18million asking price to be extortionate for a player with just over 50 Championship appearances to his name and a record of ankle problems.
Spurs value Rodon at closer to £7million but remain hopeful of reaching a deal with the Swans over the next ten days.
The domestic window remains open until October 16.
Spurs need to register their squad for the Europa League group stage by 11pm on Tuesday but they already have two too many non-homegrown players and Rodon would count as a third, given he was trained in Wales.
Third-choice goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga, who was offered to Liverpool and Everton on Tuesday, could be one of the players left out.
