Tottenham are planning an £8 million bid for Sunderland winger Kieran Richardson.
The Sunday Mirror says manager Harry Redknapp has identified the 24-yearold as a player who can help his side push for a Champions League place.
Richardson, who scored five goals last term as the Black Cats' stand-in captain, was one bright spot in a disappointing campaign which left them fretting about their Premier League status until the last day of the season.
Redknapp, though, has always admired the player, remembering him as a schoolboy at West Ham.
