Tottenham have jumped ahead of Manchester United in the battle for Sporting CP midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
Real Madrid are also in contact with Sporting, though it's Spurs which are regarded as favourites, says Record.
Spurs made a €60m offer last week, which was turned down with Sporting demanding €70m to sell.
United remain keen, but won't move for Fernandes unless Paul Pogba departs before Thursday's Premier League transfer deadline.
Fernandes and his agent met with Sporting directors on Friday to inform them of his wish to leave.
Spurs are expected to try again for Fernandes this week.
